Frequently Asked Questions About Buying, Selling and Investing in Fine Wine
Q: What does Morgan Classic Wines do?
We are a fine wine merchant specialising in the secondary market. We buy, sell and help clients invest in fine wine, including Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne and wines from around the world.
Q: What is the secondary market for wine?
The secondary market is where wines are resold after their original release. Prices are driven by supply, demand, critic scores and drinking windows. It is often where the best value is found.
Q: Do I need to know about wine to buy from you?
Not at all. We guide clients at every level, from first-time buyers to seasoned collectors. Just tell us your budget and preferences and we will do the rest.
Q: How are your wines stored?
All wines are held in bond at professional UK warehouses. Storage is temperature-controlled and fully insured.
Q: What does “in bond” mean?
In bond means the wine is stored in a government-bonded warehouse and no UK duty or VAT has been paid. You only pay duty and VAT if and when you take delivery. This keeps costs lower and is standard practice for fine wine.
Q: Do you charge management fees?
No. We do not charge management fees on wine held for investment.
Q: Can I sell wine through Morgan Classic Wines?
Yes. If you have wine in professional storage, we can help you sell it on the secondary market. We handle the valuation, marketing and sale.
Q: Do you ship internationally?
Yes, we serve clients worldwide and can arrange delivery or bond-to-bond transfers.
Q: How do I get a valuation for my wine?
Contact us with a list of what you have, including producer, vintage, format and quantity. We will come back to you with a valuation, no obligation.
Q: How do I get started?
