Tasting Notes
Robert Parker 94
My favourite of three Hermitages drunk at an Offline dinner in London. Damp earth and a touch of eucalyptus Very complex aromas. Lovely balance on the palate. Chocolate and coffee tinged palate. Seamless tannins. A little dryness on finish, I would have no qualms opening a bottle now. A very impressive wine, though without the vigor of the 1991 and 1992. Tasted April 2002.
Anticipated maturity: 2000-2025

Deep red-ruby. Roasted aromas of animal fur, blackcurrant, smoke and pepper. Supple, peppery and very concentrated, with lovely sweetness and pliant texture in the middle palate. Has a compellingly sapid quality. Finishes very long and sweet, with thoroughly ripe tannins. Absolutely delicious Hermitage, and showing no signs of shutting down in bottle.
