Tasting Notes
Robert Parker 90
This elegant, dark ruby/purple-colored 1998 exhibits aromas of lead pencil, blackberries, black raspberries, licorice, and vanillin. Deep, rich, and full-bodied, with excellent ripeness, beautiful symmetry as well as harmony, and moderate tannin in the finish, it will be at its best between 2002-2016.
Anticipated maturity: 2002-2016
Vinous 89-90
Deep ruby-red. Superripe aromas of raspberry, leather, game and earth, plus a raisiny suggestion of surmaturite. Supple and sweet in the mouth, with just enough acidity to give the wine good backbone. Not currently showing the density it displayed last spring but this may be in an awkward stage. Shapely finish features fine tannins and good grip.
