Tasting Notes
Vinous 90
The 1999 d Aiguilhe was in fact the debut vintage under Comtes von Neipperg. It has a powerful mulberry and menthol bouquet that is surprisingly vigorous if lacking a bit of complexity. The palate is medium-bodied with dusky black fruit. It is a little rustic in style, but there is good backbone and impressive freshness. Hints of brine and cedar appear on the finish. This has matured commendably in bottle. Tasted from an ex-chateau bottle at the estate.
Anticipated maturity: 2019-2027
Robert Parker 87
This wine is serious even in a lighter year. It exhibits some high quality toasty new oak, a dense ruby/purple color, and sweet, medium to full-bodied, concentrated flavors redolent with notes of olive, black currant and pain grille. Drink it over the next 10-12 years.
Anticipated maturity: 2002-2014
