Served blind in Saint Emilion, this Clos Saint Martin is very polished on the nose, with scents of macerated black cherries and creme de cassis, residual vanilla from some high quality new oak. The palate is medium-bodied with cashmere tannin: rounded and sensual, modern in style but beautifully balanced and very pure. It becomes more floral with time, still backward with a long way to go, this will be intriguing to follow. Drink 2012-2030. Tasted October 2010.
Anticipated maturity: 2012-2030
Very dark crimson. Lovely round, convincing nose. This wine has both warmth and integrity on the nose. On the palate it may lack the full-on complexity and weight of Les Grandes Murailles but it is very much of the same style. Lots of tannin there for future development. Not tarty. Very slightly inky and pinched but lots in common with Château Les Grandes Murailles.
Anticipated maturity: 2008-2018
