Bright ruby with a very pale rim. Zest and integrity on the nose – which is far from flashy. Lively but not heavy – presumably a true expression of the vintage. Pretty solid but definitely earthbound. Solid, rather earthy. [07/08/2007]

This is muted on the nose with a touch of cranberry, cherry, wild hedgerow and cold black tea. Good definition if lacking a little vigour. The palate has fine tannins on the entry, harmonious with pure red-berried fruit, a finish that flirts with the idea of richesse but demurs. Hint of smoke on the tertiary finish. Fine, rather a oeold school’ Morey. Drink now-2014. Tasted February 2007. [01/02/2007]

Vinous 88

Good medium red. Sappy black cherry and spices on the nose; fruitier now than the village Chambolle. Then fatter and more harmonious on the palate, with good supple, accessible fruit. Tannins are nicely buffered on the lingering, ripe finish. Roumier sought wines with lighter tannins in 2004, carrying out less extraction during vinification: he vinified at a lower temperature than usual and though the cuvaison was as long as usual he did less pigeage [Stephen Tanzer, 03/01/2007]
