Tasting Notes
Robert Parker 95
Showing no bricking at all, the 2012 Chateauneuf du Pape is in its early maturity. There’s a lovely mushroomy savoriness layered against black cherries and cola, earth and spice. Full-bodied, supple and almost creamy-plush in texture, it’s ready to drink now yet should easily go another decade.
Anticipated maturity: 2015-2030

Musky, earthy nose, perhaps a bit of bottle stink? Mushy bramble fruit, plenty of tannin still in place, with fresh acidity providing balance. Not much in the way of development yet, perhaps just a bit of medicinal character starting to emerge. Better harmony than the 2010 for drinking now, although it would definitely benefit from longer to tame those tannins. (RH)
