Tasting Notes
Robert Parker 95-97
The 2014 Musigny Grand Cru has a pure, enticing, quite regal bouquet with red plum and blackberry scents, wild hedgerow and wilted rose petals — all very nuanced, so much so that you almost miss its intrinsic intensity. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, very well judged acidity and tangible mineralité, especially on the precise finish that carries enormous persistence as it fans out.
Anticipated maturity: 2020-2045
Vinous 92-95
Deep, dark red. Brooding, bound-up nose suggests dark fruits, roast coffee, mocha and licorice. Firm, muscular and extremely unevolved; displays the full ripeness and outstanding inner-mouth tension of Jadot’s other 2014s from Chambolle-Musigny but this is a bit youthfully brutal today and very hard to taste. The blackberry and black cherry flavors are currently cut off by the wine’s powerful tannic spine. This wine may need 15 years or more of cellaring.
