Tasting Notes
Vinous 90
The 2015 Phelan Segur has an engaging and quite complex nose, with peaty red fruit, melted tar and just a dab of black pepper emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, but this seems to narrow toward the finish and seems strangely monotonous compared to its peers. This is a curious showing. Tasted blind at the 2015 Bordeaux Ten-Year-On tasting.

Tasted blind. Sweet, rich nose. Then the palate is pretty inky and stringy, alas. A definite disjoint! Perhaps it will come right in the end? (JR)

"Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2015 Phelan Segur has a nose of red and black currants with earthy notes of fungi, dried herbs, damp soil and tapenade. The palate is medium-bodied with a good fruit core, firm and chewy tannins and nice freshness."
