Vines mainly planted in the 1920s. Cool, clay spot next to Mazis and Chambertin so usually a bit closed. Very fresh and accessible. Very readable and charming. The friendly side of Gevrey! Nicely energetic. Very long.

The 2015 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Corbeaux is beautiful, wafting from the glass with notes of wild blueberries, blackberries, rose petal and wood smoke, elegantly framed by new oak. On the palate, the wine is supple, expansive and quite generous and gourmand in style, its tannins concealed by an ample core of fruit. Bachelet observes that this parcel, located between Mazis-Chambertin and Fonteny, possesses clay-rich soils that tend to give muscular, virile wines. To temper that tendency, he does few punch downs (a practice he started in 2014) and finds the results more eleganta a contention it would be difficult to dispute.

Medium red; less saturated than the old-vines village offering, as Bachelet avoids overextracting this cuvee. Subtle, inviting nose melds black raspberry, plum and game. Seriously rich, tactile wine with lovely sweetness and concentration to its dark fruit and floral flavors. Plenty of tannins here for a graceful evolution in bottle but not at all hard or dry today. Finishes with subtle, rising berry flavors and terrific length. This site features deep soil and good moisture retention so it never suffers from drought, said Bachelet, who compared this wine to the 2005 bottling, which he said was starting to drink well.
