Tasting Notes
Vinous 89-92
Very dark color. Lively aromas of blueberry and violet. Juicy and intense, with very ripe, sweet dark berry and chocolate flavors framed and enlivened by brisk acidity and saline minerality. This wine includes the Volnay Clos des Angles fruit, since production in this premier cru parcel was too small to make a separate cuvee.
Robert Parker 89-91
"Blended with the Les Pitures and Mitans as usual, the 2016 Volnay 1er Cru has a well-defined bouquet with pure blackberry and bilberry fruit, focused and what you might describe as tidy. The palate is medium-bodied with lovely blackberry and redcurrant fruits, something refreshingly bucolic about this premier cru, a little short but delicious."
