Tasting Notes

50% new oak. Five parcels in four lieux-dits. Mid crimson. Dark and nicely dusty on the nose, with a hint of oak spice and sweetness. Rich and sweet fruited but really firm and chewy though there’s enough juice at the core. Touch of coconut. A little bit tough but for the longer term.
Anticipated maturity: 2022-2028

“One-third of the 2016 Vosne-Romanée Village was lost to mildew this year and what survived is raised in 50% new oak. It has a very pure and suave bouquet: precise red berry fruit, sous-bois and cold slate-like aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with strict tannin, clean and fresh with a gorgeous blood orange note that enlivens the tensile red cherry and strawberry fruit on the finish. There is impressive substance to this village cru.”

The 2016 Vosne-Romanée Village has an exquisite, pure red cherry and wild strawberry scented bouquet. The palate is very well balanced with fine tannin, slightly confit in style, hints of blood orange and vanilla towards the enticing finish. Excellent, but very seductive. Tasted at the Domaine.
