The 2017 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru is showing a little reduction on the nose; there s some charry oak here, not quite as clean as its peers. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, fine balance and finer tannins than Taupenot-Merme’s La Riotte. This shows impressive delineation and elegance toward the finish, which is persistent and satisfying. An excellent Morey-Saint-Denis. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting.

Aromas of plums, cherries, raw cocoa, espresso roast and grilled meats introduce the 2017 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru, a medium-bodied wine with tangy acids and a succulent core of fruit that largely conceals its fine structuring tannins.

Average 85% whole bunch. Les Ruchots, Les Millandes, Les Sorbes and Les Charrieres. Barrel sample. Lightish cherry red. Ripe and spicily seductive on the nose. Rich and with lovely ripe cherry fruit on the palate, with a paper-fine framework giving shape. Supple and lively on the mid palate and finishes with long, dry finesse. Very persistent. (JH)

Storage
The Tilbury warehouse of London City Bond is our chosen warehouse. Our storage charges are £12 per 9 litre case (and £6 for anything 4.5l or under), ex VAT per annum.
Insurance is 0.15% of the value and a minimum of £15 p/a (full replacement cover).
