Tasting Notes
Vinous 91
The 2018 Chevalier-Montrachet La Cabotte Grand Cru has an odd nose with perfumed orange blossom and apricot scents, though for me it lacks real mineralité. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-boned tannins, fresh and vibrant, quite chalky and tensile towards the finish. Nice sapidity here, although the aromatics need to up their game. This is a curious showing given how well it tasted from barrel. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 white tasting.

Revisited in bottle, Bouchard’s 2018 Chevalier-Montrachet La Cabotte Grand Cru has turned out beautifully, mingling aromas of crisp green orchard fruit, fresh peach, citrus oil, honeycomb and buttered toast—much as it did a year ago. Full-bodied, satiny and incisive, its textural attack segues into an ample, youthfully tightly wound mid-palate girdled by racy acids and underpinned by chalky structuring extract.

Deep, spicy and flinty, with a richness of stone fruit and plenty of palate weight. Powerful finish reverberates. Definitively grand cru. (TJ)
