Tasting Notes
Vinous 96
The 2018 Musigny Grand Cru has a complex nose with evidence of some stem addition here lending an underlying peppery character. You could argue that at this stage it rather obscures the terroir expression, though the whole bunch seems commensurate with the fruit. The palate is crisp and precise, the stems lend a discrete peppery character. Not a powerful Musigny, yet perhaps the most elegant with a sensual kirsch-, liquorice-tinged finish. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 red tasting.

The beautiful 2018 Musigny Grand Cru soars from the glass with notes of violets, rose petals, raspberries and blood orange. On the palate, it’s full-bodied, layered and racy, with fine tannins and terrific intensity, though it’s less overtly muscular at this stage than the blockier Bonne Mares. This, too, is very promising.
