Tasted blind. Some evolution at the rim. Very obviously Tertre with its opulence and full-blown character on the nose. So soft yet almost unspittable in its appeal – with the rich floral nature plus a bit of dry spice – cumin? Full marks for providing something outside the norm, even if it s not the most refreshing! The 2019 Tertre-Roteboeuf is fabulous. In most vintages, Tertre-Roteboeuf is exuberant, but in 2019 it is a bit more strict, a bit more linear in construction. That’s not a bad thing at all, it just means the 2019 might need a few years in bottle to be at its very best. Black cherry, espresso, licorice, new leather and menthol gradually open in the glass. I especially like the energy here.
