As usual, the 2019 Hermitage remained largely as separate components at the time of my visit. Some pre-blending had occurred, so I tasted a combination of Beaumes and Peleat, as well as components from L’Ermite, Meal and Bessards. Uniformly full-bodied, concentrated and long, with rich, velvety tannins, dark-fruit flavors (cassis, blueberries, boysenberries) and hints of crushed stone and licorice, comparisons with 2003 aren’t unreasonable.

Cask samples tasted at the domaine. Sample cuvée 1: Peléat. Retrained nose, but with a nuttiness and spice. Rich and structured with stone-fruit characters on the super-concentrated palate. Sample cuvée 2: Rocoules. Stunning nose – grilled almonds and bruised apple. Textured, layered with plenty of weight, honeyed with real depth to it. Sample cuvée 3: L’Ermite. Incredible piercing freshness. The oak is beautifully judged, spiced pear and bruised apple with supreme texture and concentration on the long and layered finish. Quite superb. (AC)

Our minimum order value for UK supply is £750 ex vat and £1,000 for export.

Storage
The Tilbury warehouse of London City Bond is our chosen warehouse. Our storage charges are £12 per 9 litre case (and £6 for anything 4.5l or under), ex VAT per annum.
Insurance is 0.15% of the value and a minimum of £15 p/a (full replacement cover).
