The 2019 Chevalier-Montrachet Les Demoiselles Grand Cru is quite pungent on the nose. There’s some SO2 still floating around, but there is decent concentration underneath, and the sulphur retreats with time in the glass. The palate is well balanced with some chewiness on the entry. There’s a lot of matière here. This is a grippy and assertive Chevalier, though possibly at the expense of finesse and precision. There is a chance that this could be entering a dumbed down phase. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.
