The 2019 Domaine de L’Aurage is gorgeous, although it is not quite as forward as it was from barrel. Dark cherry, mocha and crushed flowers are brightened by brisk acids and a kick of tannin that should help the wine age gracefully for a decade or more.
Anticipated maturity: 2024-2034

95% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc. Barrel sample. Mitjavile stamp of rich, almost jammy fruit interwoven with integrated oak. Sweet, fulsome and gourmand on the palate but a chalky, terroir note adds balancing freshness. Tannins plentiful but well-knit. (JL)
Anticipated maturity: 2024-2030
