Tasting Notes
Vinous 97.5
The 2020 Chambertin Clos-de-Beze Grand Cru has a refined bouquet, beautifully poised with brambly red fruit, hints of sous-bois and incense. This is utterly seductive. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannins. It is fresh and quite edgy in style, with marked acidity that lends this tension. Certainly, there are plenty of tannins on the robust finish, a Clos-de-Beze built for the long haul. It is absolutely divine. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

Cask sample. Deeper colour than the Chambertin; greater depth and weight. Imposing and impressive in stature, but firmly toned rather than burly. Illustrates well the greater exposure of the site: solaire is the word that comes to mind. Not over-done, simply a point. Very, very fine. (MH)
