Tasting Notes

Made by Caroline and LouLou Mitjavile, son of Tertre Roteboeuf. Deep blackish ruby with a shaded rim. Heady and rich – very Mitjavile. Like it or loathe it. No one could accuse it of being tart!. It’s just sumptuous, and much cheaper than its stablemates Tertre and Roc de Cambes. GV (JR)

The 2020 L’Aurage has an intense bouquet with blackberry, bilberry, almost pastille-like scents that are very pure, though it takes two or three minutes to coalesce in the glass. The palate is ripe on the entry with lively red fruit, a pinch of white pepper and sage, beautifully structured, while the oak has assimilated nicely during its barrel maturation. This grows on you with each sip and comes recommended.

Robert Parker 92
Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2020 Domaine de l’Aurage charges out of the gate with rambunctious scents of baked black plums, stewed black cherries and blackberry pie, with underlying suggestions of tar, unsmoked cigars, crushed rocks and cardamom. The full-bodied palate is rich with generous black fruit layers and an achingly plush texture, supported by a refreshing backbone and finishing with great length and loads of exotic spice accents.
Anticipated maturity: 2025-2042
